Mario Forever engines

The Mario Forever scene is full of engines; most people use the same, while others prefer to use their own version. Most of these are closed-source for various reasons, although there are some that have been made public from their respective authors, or simply they’re outdated and shareable. In this page I’m going to share the ones I know are officially public, so don’t expect any particular engine (like mine.. :p)

99% of these engines are based on the original Mario Worker 1.0 source, unintentionally released with executable itself in 2004.

Lyh’s Rainbow Engine

Lyh’s Rainbow Engine is one of the most known Mario Forever engines over the Internet, and also the most advanced one in terms of coding and management.

This engine is more based on classic Mario Forever, and its arrangement is made in order to being more user-friendly.

NOTES

Compatibility : Clickteam Fusion 2.5, Clickteam Fusion 2.5+

Features : Main menu (with settings), save game room, map frame, level frame, warp cutscene, water cutscene, 4 different castle cutscenes, credits

Additional notes : Unfortunately, the engine comes in Chinese language, so you should either being a master in Chinese language acknowledgment, or knowing a good translator, for understanding most of the names and comments in the event editor. Luckily, good bunch of codes are kept in English.

Mario Forever World 10 engine

World 10 main menu

Mario Forever World 10 engine is probably the most known among all MF engines, and it’s the fourth one overall to be shown in public.

Coded by Syzxchulun and Lyh, World 10 engine was a direct rip-off of the Mario Worker 1.0 source (and an upgrade of the World 9 engine, consequently), with extra stuff like map frames, save game room, main menu, and other stuff based on original Mario Forever.

The engine was coded in 2012, and it has been used for years from the Forever Team. Now it’s quite outdated, but if you want to build your own Mario Forever game, this engine is the most recommended.

NOTES

Compatibility : Multimedia Fusion 2.0, Clickteam Fusion 2.5, Clickteam Fusion 2.5+

Features : Main menu (with settings), save game room, map frames, level frame, warp cutscene, water cutscene, World 10 castle cutscene, credits

Additional notes : The engine contains literally the whole World 10 by Syxchulun, plus the extra 7-1 from original Mario Forever. Also, the whole engine, much like Rainbow Engine, was written in Chinese, but due to issues with engine porting, text now looks like non-sense gibberish.

TheMachinumps’ Rainbow Engine Mod

Rainbow Engine Mod

Rainbow Engine Mod is, like the name says, an unofficial upgrade of Lyh’s Rainbow Engine made by TheMachinumps.

This engine brings a lot of new content, if compared to its original version, like new and more kinds of enemies, bonuses, platforms, npcs, and even a Gear Suit powerup.

If you need to build a more complete Mario Forever game, this engine is surely the best one to use

NOTES

Compatibility : Clickteam Fusion 2.5, Clickteam Fusion 2.5+

Features : Main menu (with settings), save game room, map frame, level frame, warp cutscene, water cutscene, 4 different castle cutscenes, credits

Additional notes : The engine has completely been translated in English, but its overall functionality is the same as Rainbow Engine.

Electronic Boy’s Geography Engine Remade

Geography Engine Remade is, like the name says, a remake of Geography Engine, a MF engine that takes its early steps from Rainbow Engine, but it has an entirely new loadout and fleshed out code that make it different apart from original source.

This engine brings pretty much same content as Rainbow Engine, but interface and coding is way more polished, and most of items have been translated.

If you’re an advanced coder and want to make smooth MF games with some innovation tweaks, go ahead and use this engine.

NOTES

Compatibility : Clickteam Fusion 2.5+

Features : level frame

Dunami (aka Radel999) Mario Forever Engine

Dunami Engine v2.3 main menu

Dunami Mario Forever Engine is the second ever known Mario Forever engine, right after Mario Worker 1.0 source. Released by Radel999, this engine is mostly a rework of a Super Mario All-Stars – styled engine for Multimedia Fusion 2.0 (still by him), with every sprite reworked to look more like actual Mario Forever graphics. In-game physics don’t really match original game, but if it’s the first time you’re going to build your own MF game, this engine is a good start, since it’s quite simple to understand.

Original source was released in 2011, and Mario Forever version was re-released in 2012.

NOTES

Compatibility : Multimedia Fusion 2.0, Clickteam Fusion 2.5

Features : Main menu (with settings), save game room, map frame, level frame, warp cutscene, credits

Additional notes : The pack comes with “gwedry-circular.mvx” extension, which is required to open the engine. Put this extension in the “Extensions” folder in the MMF2 / CTF2.5 directory, and you’re ready to go.

  1. mariovarieble i need the overlay redux /overlay.mfx extension to open the world 10 engine you give to me?

  2. Hello themariovariable! fits me world 10 engine ,but there is no save game, how to do it? I don’t understand, tell me what to do? Thanks in advance!

  3. recently I downloaded marioforevereditorV1.cca but it has several bugs like the error of the mario detector. This bug occurs because of the version of the clickteam fusion since the engine is 1.5 or for another reason?

    1. Yes and not only. Engine was supported more on MMF1.5, so extensions used in MMF2 / CTF2.5 result as buggy for it.

  4. Why sometimes I have a Error that pops up about a sharing violation in Clickteam Fusion 2.5?

  5. Hi.

For some reason I can’t download Cloud Engine v1.0.2 (which I’m willing to try out). Because everytime i click on “Download”, It gives me the 502 Bad Gateway Error… Any chance for another mirror of it?

  6. Hi, i had a problem with my PC, i can’t run Clickteam Fusion 2.5 Developer, because it redirects to the steam page, please, i need help.
    The PC is Windows 10.

  7. I think its absolete to say that they have mutlimadeia fusion 2 competability in the website you cannot download it and can only download its updater even though it should let you download the thing itself and becouse of that the fact that you cant even download it makes those words absolete. And why do all of these needs extensions that means I have pay mone to make my version of a fangame.

  8. As i’m interested on making stuff too, i was curious if there is an engine for Game Maker 8.2. I know there are a very few amount of games made in that, best example “Conventional Worlds” so maybe there is something like that
